The NE States Show Racing Pigeon Association was founded in 1991 by "ROD HAND". Rod has to be one of the sports best promoters and always willing to lend a hand, the club is very lucky to have this ambassodor to the pigeon world. Thank you Rod! We hold an annual show in Lebanon, Pa.. We name a showman of the year, and birds of the year based on our scoring system. We also hold an annual futurity which has become well accepted. This year we are expecting close to 100 bands ! If this comes true.....it will be some nice prize money! All the money collected is paid out in prize money, non held back to the club. The NE States also puts out a yearly report as well as a summer/ early fall news letter.
We can boast a bit about our show running very smooth and well organized. This combined with a fun and friendly setting. The club is thought by many across the country to have the best raffle, bar none ! Along with all the great show features, the food is all home made and just outstanding. The show is supervised and guided By Rod and his great wife "JEAN HAND", the club is blessed to have a woman like her to over see the show operations. Thank you Jean! The club also has the sports best goodwill ambassadress "AUNT IDA", what a true pleasure to see this charming woman at the desk. Thank you Aunt Ida !
For those of you that have not attended our show we do something out of the ordinary as far as entries go. We use what we call, “An Open Entry” show format. No class entry book is kept. The exhibitor mails in his/her entry with the total number of birds they are showing along with the entry fee for that number of birds. The day of the show the exhibitor is responsible for knowing what their entries are when classes are called as birds are not checked in. The judge picks the top three birds in each class and only those three birds with their band numbers are recorded. This system works very well. It cuts down on paper work and time.
SPECIAL AWARDS:
"THE CLYDE GALLOWAY AWARD"
This VERY special award is bestowed upon a fancier who gives back to the hobby and has a positive impact.
Clyde was a very large part of the of the NSR national held each year in White Planes NY. He was a true pigeon man a promoter, mentor and friend to many. He was a auther, one of his books is still referanced to this day "THE COLORS FOR COLOR CLASSES". This book was published by the American Racing Pigeon News in 1979. This web master still holds his signed copy 71/235 as a cherished piece. Many trips to Clyde proved to be a great impact on me.
"LAWRENCE HAND AWARD"
This award is awarded during the show season.
1) Awarded to the reserve champion at the North East States fall show held in Lebonon
Lawrence did show and enjoy this great all breed show. Back in the 70's and 80's Lawrence also enjoyed showing his show racing homers at the Reading Pa. show. The compitition was high and numbers close to the 100 bird entry mark with 6 to 12 showmen was common. Lawrence was a true racing man and showmen as well. A good person to have known and met.
We are very lucky to have "Earl Sheaffer" to register the birds for each class and call out the next class, he means so much to the club running so smooth. Earl also chairs the futurity end of the show that starts in spring getting the futurity band #'s, collecting the fee's and setting up that portion of the show and judging. Not a easy task to be sure!Thank you Earl!
The compitition is second to none drawing the most respected lofts across the country to our fall show held in Lebanon Pa.

VOTE GROWTH & PROSPERITY FOR THE NPA
JERRY GAGNE 2013
As most of you know, I am the owner of Foy's Pigeon Supply, and in that position, I
have traveled all across the United States for pigeon business. I have had the unique
opportunity of talking to pigeon fanciers and discussing the needs and wants of the
membership of the National Pigeon Association. One of the questions that has come
up is "why do you want to be President of the NPA". e answer to that question is
simple. I truly believe that I can help the organization grow and prosper through my
skills in business administration and organization.
Should I become your President, I plan on spending as much time as possible to
increase membership and communicate all NPA matters to the membership. I
believe we need transparency and you, the members, will be made aware of everything
your board discusses and will ask the membership for their opinion before any important
decisions are made. I will ask the membership for ideas on how to improve this
great organization, and take these suggestions to the board for serious discussion.
I want to be your President because I truly believe I can make a di-erence. I ask for
your vote and look forward to serving the needs of the NPA and the hobby of pigeon
keeping.
